All 8 Validation Layers — Explained

Each check adds accuracy. Together they deliver 95%+ validation without needing SMTP.

📝 Layer 1
RFC 5322 Syntax
Full spec validation — character rules, local part length (max 64), total length (max 254), TLD format. Not just a basic regex.
✏️ Layer 2
Typo Detection
Catches 40+ common domain misspellings — gmial.com → gmail.com, hotmial.com → hotmail.com. Suggests the correct domain.
📡 Layer 3
MX Record Lookup
Live DNS query via Cloudflare DoH. Confirms the domain has a working mail server. Eliminates 8–12% of invalid emails that pass syntax checks.
🛡️ Layer 4
SPF Record Check
Confirms the domain has an SPF TXT record. No SPF means the domain is easily spoofable and may be flagged as spam by recipients.
🔐 Layer 5
DMARC Check
Looks up _dmarc.domain TXT record. DMARC tells receivers how to handle unauthenticated mail — missing DMARC is a deliverability red flag.
🗑️ Layer 6
750+ Disposable Domains
Checks against a hardcoded list of 750+ known temporary email providers — Mailinator, YopMail, Guerrilla Mail, Trashmail and hundreds more.
👤 Layer 7
Role Address Detection
Flags info@, admin@, noreply@, support@, sales@ — 60+ role prefixes. Role emails often block marketing emails or go unmonitored.
🕸️ Layer 8
Catch-All Heuristic
Identifies domains likely configured to accept all mail. Unknown MX servers with no SPF record are flagged as probable catch-all domains.

How the 0–100 Score Works

Each email receives a confidence score based on how many checks pass and their weight. The score drives the final verdict.

75–100
Valid
All core checks pass — safe to send
45–74
Risky
Some flags — may bounce or go unread
1–44
Unknown
Cannot confirm — proceed with caution
0
Invalid
Will definitely bounce — do not send

FAQ

How accurate is the email validator?
The tool achieves 95%+ accuracy through 8 validation layers. The most important — MX record lookup via live DNS — confirms the domain can actually receive email. This far exceeds syntax-only validators. The only limitation is SMTP mailbox-level verification, which cloud providers block on port 25.
Why is my email marked risky not valid?
Risky means the email passes MX and syntax checks but has warning signals: it could be a role address (info@, admin@), a possible typo was found, the domain may be catch-all, or SPF/DMARC are missing. Risky emails may deliver but are more likely to cause engagement issues.
What is a catch-all domain?
A catch-all accepts email to any address at the domain regardless of whether the mailbox exists. john@company.com and xfakename@company.com both get accepted. Since SMTP verification is not possible from serverless infrastructure, these are flagged as risky.
Can I upload a CSV file?
Yes — click Upload CSV and select any CSV or TXT file. The tool extracts all email addresses and loads them into the validator automatically. Results can be exported back to CSV with the full check breakdown per email.
What are disposable emails and why block them?
Disposable emails are temporary inboxes from services like Mailinator, YopMail, Guerrilla Mail. They self-destruct after hours or days — useless for ongoing communication. Sending to them causes hard bounces which damage your sender reputation with ESPs.
