How to use the SKILL.md Validator

Paste a SKILL.md document, optionally enter its parent directory name, and run the checks. Errors identify invalid fields; warnings describe checks that were skipped or recommendations.

Supported checks and limits

Checks YAML syntax and duplicate keys, name and description constraints, optional field types, metadata and directory-name matching. It does not execute scripts, inspect referenced files or judge instruction quality.

Up to 100,000 characters and 40 nesting levels. Tool/configuration checks accept up to 100 definitions. Processing stops after three seconds and reports at most 200 findings. YAML aliases and shared objects are unsupported.

Privacy and report handling

The validator runs locally and does not execute pasted instructions or commands. It does not save inputs to browser storage. Review field names in exported reports before sharing.
