Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Open Graph Validator

Why doesn't my X (Twitter) preview show the large image?
X uses twitter:card to decide. Set it to 'summary_large_image' for the big-image card; otherwise you get the small 'summary' card. Also: the twitter:image URL must be a full https:// URL and the image must be ≥300×157 px and under 5MB.
Facebook and LinkedIn show the wrong / cached preview after I updated my tags. Why?
Both aggressively cache OG data — sometimes for 24+ hours. To force a re-scrape: Facebook → use the Sharing Debugger and click 'Scrape Again'; LinkedIn → use the Post Inspector. Updating the og:url to include a cache-buster query string (?v=2) also works.
What's the difference between og:image and twitter:image?
If you only set og:image, X (Twitter) falls back to it — that's why most sites get away with just OG tags. Set twitter:image separately when you want a different image on X (e.g. a more vertical crop). Twitter also reads twitter:image:alt for accessibility.
Is X's official validator still working?
No — X deprecated the Card Validator in 2022. There is currently no official replacement, which is why OG validators like this one have become essential. We render the cards exactly to X's documented spec.
Is the target URL notified or fingerprinted?
We send a single GET request from our server (SSRF-guarded) with a standard bot User-Agent. No tracking pixels, no logging of which URLs are checked. Safe for confidential staging URLs.
